Our Timeline
In Fall 2022
In response to the academic challenges children faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Providence Transformation Church International (PTCI) partnered with the Lynchburg City Schools to launch an education intervention program.
This initiative included weekend tutorials, afterschool support, and in-school mentoring, quickly serving 50 students in its first year.
In Spring 2023
Seeing the need for broader support, PTCI’s leadership and community members transitioned the program into a nonprofit community development corporation
Named “Generations and Greatness” (G&G) in honor of lifelong educator Dr. Lauretta Atkinson Coleman (CEO of a magazine also named Generations and Greatness), the organization expanded its mission to help families thrive and support senior citizens.
In May 2024
G&G was officially recognized as a nonprofit, and by July, the board was inaugurated, setting the stage for a focused strategic plan on how to serve our community.
